Read the following terms carefully before using our services. Using CiaoBox services you accept to be bound to Terms and Conditions as described in this document. Therefore, it is important to carefully examine the following. We offer our service exclusively upon acknowledgement and acceptance of the following documents: Terms and Conditions (T&C), Our Rules, Our Rates and Privacy Policy.

WHO WE ARE

CiaoBox is an innovative start-up that offers infinite storage for your items. Your belongings will be securely kept in our storage and guarded 24 hours.

One or more boxes made of rigid plastic will be delivered free to your home-address which can be used to store your personal items safely. At any point in time you can re-order some or all of your stored items to be delivered to your home-address. It will only take you a click on our website or a call to our customer service.

If your items do not fit into our boxes- no worries. Essentially whatever can be transported by one person only can be stored as well. We do store items such as ski, bicycles, electric stoves, small air conditioners, suitcases etc.

Upon your request and authorisation, we take pictures of the content of your boxes including a description of your stored articles in order to offer you a digital catalogue of your items.

We offer our services from only CHF 9.50 per month per stored item or box.

The ideology of CiaoBox is to preserve instead of throwing away and re-buying. Our boxes are reusable an infinity of times and made of recycled material.

CiaoBox is your infinite closet of things. You have to prepare your items only. We will take care of the latter. Create space in your life. (Space up your life.)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

CiaoBox offers a home-storage service through three simple steps:

Require a free home-delivery of CiaoBox containers
Prepare your items carefully. We will pick them up and store them for you.
Your items are safely stored: you can see them online and reorder them with one click only.

We deliver rigid plastic containers with practical zip ties and a welcome-kit containing what is necessary to pack your personal items free to your home-address.

If your items do not fit into our boxes- no worries. Essentially whatever can be transported by one person only can be stored as well. We do store items such as ski, bicycles, electric stoves, small air conditioners, suitcases etc.

Upon your request and authorisation, we take pictures of the content of your boxes including a description of your stored articles in order to offer you a digital catalogue of your items.

You can access your virtual storage from any smartphone, tablet or computer. Wherever you are- your items are securely stored.

CIAOBOX BUSINESS

CiaoBox Business is a service offered to companies in the areas of Lugano and Bellinzona. CiaoBox Business clients will receive special cardboard boxes for archiving of documents with a practical welcome-kit for free.

Upon your request and authorisation, we will transcribe the description of content in order to offer you a digital catalogue of your stored documents.

CIAOBOX STUDENTS

CiaoBox Students provides tailored services to universities in the Lugano and Bellinzona regions. Our student clients receive specially-designed cardboard boxes for storing personal belongings, complete with tape and labels.
Universities schedule specific dates for the return of belongings. Alternatively, individuals can opt for specialized services such as after-hours pick-up and delivery, custom packaging, or specific item insurance.

OUR RULES

The underlying rules of what can be stored in our storage and what not are listed on our page Our Rules. All mentioned rules are integral part of our Terms and Conditions.

Remember that the items you hand in will be moved multiple times by various individuals. Therefore, wrap your items carefully and remember that you should not hand in fragile items (such as crystal glasses, mirrors, sculptures, ceramics, china, glass etc.) that could easily break. If any of those items should break because of their fragility you understand that you give automatically up on your rights of complaint and reimbursement versus CiaoBox.

You acknowledge and accept not to hand in items of inestimable value, sentimental or emotional value etc. In case of storage of mentioned items, you accept to give up on all rights and demands versus CiaoBox regarding reimbursement in case of damages.

RATES

Our prices are transparent and can be found on our page Our Rates. All prices mentioned are integral part of this document. The monthly total to be paid is the sum of the amounts as shown in the table in addition to other applicable taxes or sales.

PACKING OF YOUR ITEMS

Prepare your items carefully, it is your responsibility. Hand in only objects that are allowed by Terms of CiaoBox and wrap every single item carefully. Use paper or polystyrene and wrap in a way that everything can be transported without breaking.

Do not ask our staff to pack your items instead: we are not a moving company. Respecting this rule allows us to offer you and all our clients on time deliveries at a reasonable cost.

We urge you not to overfill the boxes: this is very important for your and the CiaoBox team’s safety. The maximum weight per box or item is 25kg and we reserve the right to refuse the pick-up and to apply additional handling fees if the weight exceeds mentioned limit.

Accepting this document, you declare that the boxes and all items entrusted us have been packed carefully. Further you accept that CiaoBox is not responsible for any damage caused by insufficient protection of your items.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOUR OBJECTS

Upon your request and authorisation, we take pictures of the content of your boxes including a description of your stored articles in order to offer you a digital catalogue of your items.

If you chose that CiaoBox should take pictures of your items, missing supernatural abilities we will have to open your boxes to do so (we will reclose them properly afterwards). If you do not give your consent to open the boxes they will remain locked.

In any case CiaoBox reserves the right to open and inspect the content of any boxes in case of emergency, suspected illegal activity or suspected storage of as per Terms and Conditions forbidden items. In case of written request of authorities to declare the content of boxes of your property we will allow this check and inform you accordingly.

TEMPERATURE

Our commitment is to maintain a constant temperature between 5° and 30° degrees. Nevertheless, our storage facilities are not air-conditioned, therefore your items could sustain temperature variations that exceed the before mentioned.

We are committed to do our best to maintain the storage facilities dry in order to protect your items from mould or microorganisms but considering that our facilities are not climate-controlled we cannot guarantee that microorganisms might damage your objects. As user of this service you assume the responsibility and risks in case of damage of your items through microorganisms.

TERMS OF RENTAL

The rental contract has a minimum duration of three months and a monthly billing-minimum of CHF 29.00 unless CiaoBox authorized in writing an alternative solution.

The monthly rental rate must be paid to CiaoBox anticipated. The monthly payment must be paid in full without any payment reminder or communication from our side. Our duty is to guard your items whereas yours it to pay in a timely manner. Without a complete payment you cannot get back your items.

It is your responsibility to be at home at the appointment you fixed with CiaoBox for any reason (e.g. delivery of empty boxes, pick-up of filled boxes or to get your items back). Every appointment made implies costs therefore it is important to be present. In case of absence you will be charged an additional administrative cost (See “RATES”).

The amount that is monthly due it the sum of all totals as indicated under “RATES” in addition to applicable taxes, charges or fees mandated by an authority or court. You can check and print the total charges debited to your account at any time under “My Account” or ask for a copy sending an email to finance@ciaobox.ch.

COMPANY POLICY

CiaoBox defines itself through the values of constant innovation, security, reliability and superior quality that distinguish our offer.

We transformed the Storage from being non-technological into an edgy service. You can sleep peacefully; your items are taken good care off.

BILLING CYCLE

The billing cycle is based on the date when your items get stored, the date of your first pick-up appointment. If your pick-up appointment is e.g. on the 16th of the current month, the second billing month will start on the 16th of the following month. Remember that the billing minimum is CHF 29.00 per month for a minimum duration of three months. The first month will be debited at the moment of order.

When you ask for an item to be delivered back to you, you will be billed for that item for the whole billing month. For example, if you order your item to be back on March 20th, but the next monthly billing cycle is on March 26th you will not get reimbursed for the 6 days you paid in advance at the beginning of the billing cycle. Therefore, we urge you to schedule the return of your items on a date that is near to the date of the following billing cycle.

The first three months of rental are obligatory and under no circumstance reimbursable. Occasionally CiaoBox might offer promotions without the three-month-minimum. The three months are calculated from the first day of billing of item (e.g. January 20th) until the same date after three calendar months (e.g. April 20th).

If you would like to add more items during the billing cycle, you can do it: in that case we will correct your monthly rental pro rata temporis from the pick-up date of the item on. If you add an item or box in the middle of the billing month we will calculate the effective rental days (including the pick-up date) and add the amount to the billing cycle of the following month. Also in this case the minimum storage of every single newly added item or box to the already stored ones is of three months from the date of pick-up on. You can require one or more of your items to be delivered back to you before the end of the obligatory three months but you will be billed the full amount of rental for three months.

You are personally responsible to pay our fees and charges on time. If your payment is delayed, we might accept a down-payment on the total payment due but remember that you won’t have access to your items until there is an outstanding balance on your account.

All rates mentioned in this document can be changed by CiaoBox from the following month after its communication (generally through email). The amendment of prices will be effective only after 30 days upon communication.

PAYMENTS

Your credit/debit card or banking information will be saved on CiaoBox servers and/or at suppliers’ of our trust and will be used for future payments. If you want to stop your credit card to be debited or your credit card details changed you will have to notify us accordingly through the setup of your account on our website inputting your new credit card details or asking for suspension of your contract. We accept the following circuits: Visa, MasterCard, PostFinance, PayPal, American Express. We reserve the right to ask for cash payment or wire transfer in case of overdue payments or in exceptional cases.

If we are unable to debit the amount to your credit card, we will notify you accordingly and retry to debit your card after a couple of days. If the payment is rejected by your bank (because of insufficient funds, new credit card details, Chargeback, blocked card etc.) and/or in the case of payment reminders you will be charged an additional administrative fee.

It can happen to anyone to forget a payment. Should you decide though not to settle your outstanding balance you won’t have access to your items. 180 days after payment due day and after numerous payment reminders we reserve the right to proceed to sell your personal items. You acknowledge that you will lose any right of ownership over the items in our storage facilities. All charges and administrative fees will still have to be settled. Make sure you communicate straight away eventual changes of your credit card details, if you lose or get your card stolen.

VALUE OF YOUR ITEMS

You accept the responsibility that every single unity (single item, box filled with personal items, wardrobe box, bicycle, suitcase etc.) given to CiaoBox in order to be stored has a maximum value of CHF 200.00 or less with a complex limit of all objects not exceeding CHF 2’000.00

The maximum responsibility of CiaoBox for each stored box or single item is of CHF 200.00. Under no circumstance it is possible to store objects of a total value that exceeds CHF 2’000.00 per single client. Not respecting this agreement represents a violation of the contract and the user assumes full responsibility.

All claims must be made in writing, and submitted by post, within 48 hours from your items return: we do not accept any complaints after 48 hours.

The value insured can only be increased through a special written contract between CiaoBox and the client. We recommend to use a private insurance to guarantee for the objects stored within the CiaoBox facilities. In mentioned case the client gives up on his right to make any type of complaint against CiaoBox in case of damage through accident.

PROPERTY DISPUTES

CiaoBox won’t release your objects to a third person that declares to be the lawful owner unless you provide your written consent. The only exception is represented through a decision or injunction of a civil or penal court.

If a third person declares to be the lawful owner of your stored objects we will make the person fill a complaint form. Whoever signs a written complaint assumes the responsibility to reimburse CiaoBox all types of internal administrative costs in case the complaint results to be null and void.

CANCELLATION OF YOUR ACCOUNT

We hope to keep you as our customer always and we are happy to improve our performance upon your constructive feedback anytime. It is possible at any time to withdraw from the existing contract (all minimum rates and standard charges will still be applied until the expiry of the contract). You will have to schedule the delivery of your items back to you and settle all outstanding fees.

If you expressively ask for destruction of your items in our storage facilities, we will ask for your written consent to do so. Elimination of your objects will not raise you from payment of your outstanding balance regarding services provided by CiaoBox.

RIGHT TO WITHDRAW

The rates indicated in the moment of purchase will be debited monthly to your account until the eventual cancellation of contract. Registrations that get cancelled within 24 hours of first scheduled delivery of empty boxes (or item pick up) will be reimbursed completely. If the request of cancellation is presented after that period of time, the payment will not be reimbursed and the contract will remain valid as required by the minimum term. You can withdraw from the contract or ask for cancellation contacting us in writing. The rental contract has a minimum duration of three months and a monthly billing-minimum of CHF 28.50 unless CiaoBox authorized in writing an alternative solution.

LIEN

Accepting this document, you accept that CiaoBox has a lien upon all of your objects stored in our facilities. All present, future and past fees and charges as permitted by applicable Swiss law are to be settled by you. After 180 days of payment delay CiaoBox has the right to enforce the lien by selling objects of your property stored in our facilities at a private or public lien sale according to applicable Swiss law. Before this happens you will properly be informed in writing.

LIABILITY LIMITATION

CiaoBox is not liable for any loss, responsibility, complaint or damage to objects or persons unless directly to be attributed to CiaoBox or its team. CiaoBox reserves the right to open and inspect the content of any boxes in case of emergency, suspected illegal activity or suspected storage of as per Terms and Conditions forbidden items. Further, CiaoBox is not liable in your regards for damages caused by natural disasters, wars or civil disturbance.

OUR WEBSITE

All contents of CiaoBox are the property of the CiaoBox licensee. You can look at the contents of our platform and read them but not copy or make any commercial use of them.

CiaoBox is authorised to close your account at any time, with or without a reason. If that should happen in absence of a severe motif you will receive a written notice thirty days in advance and we will provide to deliver your items back to you. Some parts of the present T&Cs will continue to operate also after cancellation of your account.

PERSONAL DATA

Your account and your personal data are not assignable or transferable without previous written consent of CiaoBox. CiaoBox can freely transfer, assign or negotiate rights and duties regarding Terms and Conditions without your consent. Credit card details are protected by Datatrans and PostFinance and will in no case be passed on to third parties.

If your email address or your residence changes it is important that you inform us immediately. We are not responsible if you should not receive a payment reminder if your email address or home address has changed and you missed to inform us accordingly.

CiaoBox or its team is not responsible for loss, economic revenue, virus or malware coming from us or any to us associated source. The present contract and our business relations are regulated and interpreted in conformity with the Swiss law.

CONCLUSIONS

The present agreement and eventual amendments substitute any previously written or oral agreements. All agreements between the parties refer to this present document.

We can amend or modify Our Rules, Terms of this document and our Privacy Policy at any given moment. It is your responsibility to check out on and read our updated Terms and Conditions and related Policies on a regular basis.

The team of CiaoBox is not authorised to draw up agreements that defer from those indicated, and all eventual amendments must be written down in a document and duly signed by both parties.
